Shades of Blue

She stopped me as I reached for the door with my travel bag over my shoulder. –Dad! Don’t leave without giving your daughter a hug. She headed towards me, legs strutting, arms out-stretched. I set the bag down just in time for her to wrap her arms around me and press her head against my chest. Her hugs are gifted from the heart. I had half a mind to call off my business trip, stay with her and spend the rest of the day watching the Disney Channel; just the two of us resting in our pajamas, watching capers by beautiful teenagers who never worry about life with cancer.

Counts Are Up

Though only slightly higher, Jordan’s counts were improved today. She’s allowed to go back to school on the condition that she washes her hands constantly. I would imagine that Jeanette will arm Jordan with a battery of hand sanitizer. At least the stir-crazy girl can get out of the house and get back into circulation. She’s happy about that.

Disruptions

You may have noticed that our site has a new look and feel. We made some improvements, but to do so, we had to pick up the whole blog and move it to a new location. All the content is there, although a few of the image links may need some maintenance. Also, if you previously subscribed to our RSS feeds or mail notices, you’ll have to start again. But it’s otherwise the same cast of characters you already know.

Preoccupied

I haven’t posted for awhile because life has kept me busy. And unfortunately, this will be a brief entry. Jordan went in for her second round of chemotherapy last week. While she handled it with the same fighting spirit we’ve all grown to love, her counts are down this week. In fact, she’s neutropenic, which means we’ll need to keep her out of school and limit exposure to the world around her for a bit until her immune system recovers.

She is back at CHLA today for the second round of treatment with Cytoxan. I’m on the road, getting updates from Jeanette and wishing I was there. Jordan is in a good mood. More to come…
