Multitasking

A slayer never rests. Even while getting chemo, Jordan made a point of finishing her homework. Call Phil Knight at Nike. Jordan just does it.

The Get-It-Done Girl

Tomorrow she will have chemo again. She’ll rise early, stretch before getting out of bed, and quietly make her way to the “lady’s room.” There, she will brush her hair methodically. As she looks in the mirror, she’ll notice how much that hair is thinning. She’ll focus her attention on her brush strokes, with concerted brows that look as though they’ve been over-plucked. Her eyes will lock onto her wrists as she runs the bristles through, and she’ll dare the hair to defy her.

Hustling in Portland

Jordan is having a wonderful time this week with our family in Portland. On Tuesday, her Auntie Lisa and Uncle Ricky brought her into the city to hang out with Jeanette and I. To clarify, the kids are staying with family and Jeanette and I are staying downtown at a hotel. It’s a much-needed mini-vacation for me and my wife. Anyway, during Jordan’s visit downtown, she sweet-talked her uncle into playing some pool with her.

Gearing Up

A little more than 24 hours from now, we will herd the family and the dog onto a plane for a long overdue vacation. We’re headed to Portland, Oregon to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with our extended family. Jordan is very excited. It has not been an easy couple of weeks. After Jordan’s last dose of Cytoxan, her counts dropped dangerously low. Fortunately, she seems to have resilience at the cellular level.
