A Decade

It’s hard to believe. A decade. She’s bigger than life and has been from the day she first thrilled the air with the electricity of her hearty cry. I still remember that day, and the way her perfect face stared back at me in the white light of the delivery room. My little girl will be ten on Wednesday. Her decennial achievement is all the more special because of what she has achieved in that time.

The Dynamic Duo Dines in Style We’re buddies. She likes how I make her laugh, and I like how she just hangs with me. We both like to travel and we enjoy sophomoric humor. Oh, and we both appreciate the finer things in life. My daughter is a clever companion and a trying child. Someday, I hope she does things in a certain way because of my influence. I know I will look at the world forever through a different lens because of her.

Travel Buddy

Making a bouquet We haven’t taken a trip together for awhile – just Jordan and I. This weekend would remedy that. We flew to San Francisco for a long weekend of sight seeing, shopping and fine dining. Jordan had a great time, and so did I. We posted some cool photos from our trip on Flickr. Confidants

The Girls Confide @ the W San Diego I suspect they have a bond that will affect them both for the rest of their lives – a bond beyond the normal mother/daughter ties. They’ve been through so much together, and while each knows how to push the other’s buttons, they ebb and flow together like kindred souls. As Jordan grows ever more mature, transforming into a graceful young woman, I enjoy watching her take quiet comfort in the company of her mother.

Breakfast with Jordan

Jordan recounts a story over eggs and fruit. She’s wired just like me. It’s wonderful! This weekend we bunked in the same room. Jeanette and Jordan slept in one bed, I slept in the other…with the dog. I would wake up first, just as the sun was rising. I’d smack my lips a bit, roll over and rub my eyes. As they came into focus, I’d look over at the other bed.
