Tripped Up

Jordan was admitted to CHLA today. She fell while descending the stairs at home and hit her head. Given her history with head trauma, we were instructed to bring her in to the hospital even though she was fine after the fall. She’s resting comfortably but she’s going to be in the hospital for at least a few days while the doctors run tests and observe her to try and explain the change in her physical condition.

Hello, April

The sun showers her hair as she leans across the railing of our third floor patio. She rests her head on her hand, with an elbow braced against the iron, and rambles on about a playdate she plans with a new friend. She has quilted me with random observations and anecdotes for the past 20 minutes. Each patch of one-sided conversation is stitched to the next with an obligatory silence. She knows that I have come here to write.

Chaotically Unpredictable

It’s a waste to chase the pipe dream of a magical tiny theory that allows us to make quick and detailed calculations about the future. We can’t predict and we can’t control. To accept this can be a source of liberation and inner peace. We’re part of the unfolding world, surfing the chaotic waves. – What is my name? She searches the hall with restless eyes. Being a Hero Ambassador

What a day! Today, Jordan was invited to be a special guest at the LA Loves Alex’s Lemonade Stand event hosted at Culver Studios. It was amazing! She got to meet Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka (the honorary hosts of the event), and Jimmy Kimmel (the event’s emcee). We all feasted on delicious food from celebrity chefs, many who flew to LA to participate. And, Jordan gave a speech about her journey for the very first time.

The Tedious Puzzle

When we arrived the room was empty; just a bed with fresh sheets watching over a lonely window. All of Jordan and Jeanette’s things were there, just not the girls. Before my mom and I could worry a nurse peeked in and told us that Jordan was taking a shower. Our shoulders relaxed and we each found a seat to wait.
